STAFF AND SERVANT LEADERS

PASTOR JASON D. SMITH
Pastor Smith and his wife, Jennifer, moved their family to Athens in 2016. Prior to taking the lead pastoral position at Trinity Baptist he served as a youth pastor and later as an assistant pastor for twenty-one years in a church located in western Michigan. Pastor enjoys a number of different sports and hopes to one day find that he has hit a hole-in-one.

Pastor and his wife, Jennifer, met each other while attending Bible college in northern Wisconsin. They have three children together; Grant, Kayla and Brett. Jennifer assists her husband with his many church responsibilities and also has a career as a local real estate agent.

It is Pastor’s desire to help you grow in your relationship with the Lord. He wants to help you and your family discover how much God loves you and how He can change every area of your life for the better. The Bible teaches so many lessons about life and we think you will find that the preaching and teaching in our meeting times is both easy to understand and very practical.

So come meet our Pastor and his family. We will make sure that there is always room for you and your group. And while you are here, maybe you will consider making our family your family.

JENNIFER SMITH
Jennifer has been a great help to our pastor though his years of ministry. We think you will find that she is true and genuine. Always ready with a listening ear, Jennifer is compassionate and a friend for the ladies in our church whenever they need one.

Along with serving as a pastor’s wife, Jennifer has worked in the secretarial field, at a pharmaceutical company, and as an assistant postmaster general for the United States Post Office. She learned about the food industry as a coffee barista’ at a local automotive dealership while living in the Midwest. Currently, Jennifer is venturing into the real estate market and is selling homes to folks throughout the area.

PASTOR DAVID T. SMITH
Pastor Dave moved to Athens in the fall of 2016 after serving in the same church in Michigan as lead pastor for nearly thirty years. Prior to his stay in Michigan, Pastor Dave had started a church in Iowa, where he pastored for eleven years, pastored a church for a short time in South Carolina and served as a youth pastor in both Florida and Michigan.

Pastor Dave was hired as a part-time staff member here at Trinity at the start of 2017. He assists our Pastor by leading the music program and helping with the teaching and discipleship. Pastor Dave also assists with outreach and in the care giving among the church members.

Pastor Dave has been married to his wife, Micki, since 1968 and together they have continued to serve the Lord together. We think you will find them to be a big help to you in your relationship with the Lord and a tremendous blessing to your family as well.

MICKI SMITH
Miss Micki has been serving with Pastor Dave throughout his ministry, usually as his personal secretary. She is currently enjoying retirement and the much warmer weather found here in the south. Born in Illinois and having grown up on a farm, she enjoys laboring in the outdoors and has been hard at work in the yard of her new Georgia home.

MATT LEE
Matt Lee is one of our servant leaders at Trinity and is currently one of our church deacons. He also serves as the Sunday morning Bible teacher of our young people. Matt and his wife, Jenny, regularly help around the church with various repairs and projects that help make sure the church property is operating at its best.

Matt has lived in Athens for a good part of his life. He and his wife met while attending a local Christian school. Following graduation from high school, Matt attended and graduated Bible college. Currently, Matt is employed by a local business establishment and makes some extra money on the weekends by installing garage doors on new home constructions.

The Lee’s have two children, a son and a daughter, and are likely to be one of the first couples you will meet while attending one of the services at Trinity Baptist.

JENNY LEE
Jenny serves alongside her husband, Matt, in the Sunday morning Bible study for the young people at Trinity. She also volunteers as the church treasurer and works a good number of hours making sure that our church financial records are at their best. Like her husband, Jenny attended a local Christian high school and then graduated from a Christian college here in the south. Jenny is currently employed by a local construction building company and makes sure their bills are paid in a timely manner as well.

If you have a chance to attend one of our Sunday morning connection groups, be sure to grab a cup of coffee that Jenny made for you. It’s sure to make your Sunday a little brighter.

DAVID COKER
David Coker is one of our church deacons and ushers. He has been at Trinity since he was a boy and can tell you some fascinating stories about our church’s history. David has faithfully served and continues to avail himself to the people of our church through his prayers and Biblical wisdom.

Having grown up in the Athens area, David graduated from a local high school and studied at the university. He currently serves our community as a police officer with the Clarke County Police Department. David and his wife, Laura, have continued their faithful service to the Lord since their early adult years and we are looking forward to their years of service yet to come.

DEBORAH COKER
Laura has been serving with her husband, David, here at Trinity for many years. She is a caring lady who takes time to care for our shut-ins and those who serve our community. Laura is well aware of the sacrifices that our civil servants make each and every day. She is an advocate for these men and women and helps our church people know better how to pray and support these servant leaders.

The Coker’s have four children who have all grown up in the ministry of Trinity Baptist. If you have a special need or would like someone to pray and keep you in the thoughts of the people of our church, be sure to take the time to get to know the Coker family. They will be strong advocates for you and your family.
