How To Be Nice: Talk Nice To and About Each Other
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. – James 4:11a

Coach knew how important it was for his players to treat each other with respect. That was why he insisted that we be nice in what we said to each other and in what we said about each other.

Unfortunately, most of us have a difficult time with this one. For whatever reason, we try to build ourselves up by tearing others down.

The Bible tells us that the tongue (or our words) is often like poison. If we aren’t careful, we can leave a path of destruction littered with broken hearts of people we have either directly or indirectly offended.

Coach would borrow the following quote from his mother, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” Simple yet profound! Imagine what could happen if everyone lived it.

So choose your words wisely and be careful not to leave a path of destruction with the things you say.
